You join Adapt You for one reason, you want to change. You have an area, or areas, in your life that you seek improvement and desire support in getting there. I can relate to this, I’ve been there, and I’m still there. You see this podcast, and this company aim to create a community around those who wish to become the best version of themselves, to change and to adapt. Not too many years ago I had a difficult conversation with myself. I had allowed my life to get out of control, and I was indeed on a bad path and not happy with whom I’d become. I needed to change. That process has been both incredibly challenging, yet beyond rewarding. Through this process the consciousness awaking has been so liberating and transcendent that it’s almost too difficult to put into words, as it comes from a place of feeling and emotion. So why should you be part of the Adapt You movement, why should you invest your time with this content? I feel this is best articulated appropriately in the form of a metaphorical story. I often speak in metaphors as I feel its a great way to give context to otherwise challenging points to communicate.
Have you ever stood by, or near, a train and watched it roll by with all of it’s strength and force? Have you witnessed the enormously powerful boxes of steal, welded together tightly with raw precision, as they burrow down the rails in a seemingly effortless fashion. You may notice the combination of sheer power and grace before your eyes rumbling forward with an unabated approach to what seems to be an endless path of rails. The sheer force of the train is without question captivating to the eye, and felt in the chest.
As a child I lived close to a railway in the small New England town of Lenox Massachusetts. I was enamored and amazed by the train, as are most 10 year old boys. I recall the days I could hear the train rumble by with all of its power and might, occasionally catching a glimpse through the break in the not so distant tree line. It was a short walk to the end of the cul-de-sac and through that tree line to come face to face with the mighty rails. I would walk down to the train track often for a glimpse of the magnificent velocity and momentum displayed by the metal carts as they glided down the tracks. The horn could be heard for miles, especially on those cold cool nights, …. a warning of the impending locomotive. After rushing down to bestow its glory I would take notice at the cars as they travel by, one by one. So many different shapes and sizes, carrying different cargo and goods. Some carts would have their doors wide open as they passed by, moving too quickly to catch a glimpse. As like any curious child I would stand by and think “what’s in those carts, what are they carrying”.
These fond memories are seated firmly in my mind as a reminder of my childhood and past, and moreover serve as a metaphor for how I see life and my future, as well as YOUR future.
You see the that train is your life and the carts a symbol of what you carry in tow and what defines you, that pass down the rails of time. If you’ve ever stood and straddled the rails, and looked ahead into the distance, they appear to continue on forever. The reality is, however, the rails eventually end. Like trains, your life builds momentum and begins to carry speed as we develop as people. The tiny decisions, the people we surround ourselves with, and choices that form our habits ultimately set that train in motion towards a destination… who we are and the life we will live. Once the belly of the steal beast gains speed and momentum it’s hard to stop. Decisions begin to compound, subconscious choices begin to take effect and the train is now on an unabated path towards that destination. Unfortunately many of us ARE NOT in control of this train, we aren’t at the wheel. In fact most of us aren’t even aboard. We are standing idle in the field besides it, watching the train run furiously down the rails kicking up dust and debris upon as it careens towards the eventual, but unknown end of the tracks.
Scary thought right?
Ever feel like your life is out of control and you don’t know how to gain it back? Ever feel like you don’t know where your train is going? Ever feel like you are careening towards a destination unknown or less desired, and there is nothing that can stop you… the momentum of your steal beast moving with too much inertia. How do you gain control again?
The only constant in life is change, so you better get good at it.
The answer metaphorically, and in reality, is quite simple. You must get back on that train, regain control, choose what carts of opportunity and personnel you want in tow, which to let go, and consciously command control towards a desired destination.
The only way to do this is to constantly and continually ADAPT.
Charles Darwin said it best “It is not the most intellectual of the species that survives; it is not the strongest that survives; but the species that survives is the one that is able to ADAPT to and to adjust best to the changing environment in which it finds itself.”
You see, true happiness comes from the ability to grow, evolve and adapt to the ever changing times we live in. Life moves fast on those rails. Opportunity comes and goes so quickly, passing before our eyes, cart by open cart. If you want to truly be in charge you have to be in constant motion. Constantly evolving, growing, changing and adapting! Adaptation empowers you with true fluidity of motion, ability to pivot, adjust, acclimate and grow into the opportunities and situations we are faced with.
Your ability to evolve, grow, and adapt will put you in motion and allow you to jump onto that moving train called YOUR LIFE. The reality is the only way to catch a moving train is to be conditioned and fit to catch it! Your fitness and speed eventually allowing you to gain the velocity necessary to grab on, get aboard, and take control. Try getting onto a moving train standing still….
If nothing changes, then nothing changes.
ADAPTATION, I theorize, is a skillset that can be learned and conditioned by intentionally place your self into challenging situations, and seeing fear, challenge, struggle, pain and suffering in a different light. Many in life focus on the end result, and see that end result as what will make them happy. When they get that promotion, when they cross that finish line, or when they get the doctorate degree. Many focus on the product, not the process. It’s in the process, the journey of achievement, that the greatest gains as a person are realized, and you are ultimately molded into the person you are today. You don’t just go through it… you GROW through it. That process is often painful, challenging and filled with doubt and hesitation. The fear of the unknown, the pain, and the struggle stop many on their rails before they are even set their train in motion, or cause many to quit prematurely…. Thus why most NEVER CHANGE. Change is incredibly hard. Adapt You is here to help you through it.
I’m fascinated by the ability of how our body, mind and spirit can learn, change and evolve…. yet “change” is the very thing that most human beings MOST resist against. ADAPT YOU aims uncover and deconstruct adaptation and break it down into a process that is easily understood, intentionally practiced, absorbed, conditioned, and ultimately implemented into your life. I believe through an understood, learned, and applied practice we can truly evolve into the absolute best versions of ourselves. That is what this company aims to accomplish; to evolve you into the absolute best version of yourself… to ADAPT YOU.
I feel that adaptation practiced will deliver you the most amazing life imaginable. You will evolve into the ever changing world we live in and empower yourself with the skills necessary to prosper in all aspects of life. Life isn’t about finding yourself, it’s about creating yourself through the art of adaptation.

I think Aristotle said it best with “ you are what you repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” I don’t have all the answers, I don’t have all the solutions, I'm far from perfect, and I’m in this journey with you.
